Meet Me in SLU: Anar Seattle

It’s no secret that the landscape of SLU has changed more than your shoe collection has since college. But with great change, comes great food! If you’ve visited the new Amazon campus in the past few weeks, you’ve probably noticed the Amazon banana stand, sandwich shops and more buffering what was once a land of parking lots and old motels.

For the health and zen-concious, mamnoon owners Racha and Wassef Haroun have brought the go-to juice (and more) destination with anar. This isn’t your college roommates juice cleanse either – anar offers a “highly curated” selection of juices and will locally source ingredient when possible. The juices range in flavor with savory ginger to sweet acidic ingredients that are sure to please any palate.

Looking for something more filling than juice? No problem. The juice specialists at anar will also be offering small plates to curb your appetite with mediterranean-inspired flavors and no shortage of color or freshness will found in their cozy space that seats 18 in the Doppler campus. Food options will include a mezze dish with dolma, pickled and raw vegetables, arugula and gluten-free crackers with a choice of Carrot bi tahini, muhammara, or “Persian” green hummus.

Feeling slightly hungrier? They’ve got you covered! Big plate options include Fatteh with cauliflower, garbanzo, gluten-free crackers with mint cucumber salad, and a selection of fantastic desserts.

If you’re a picky eater or just can’t figure out where to start with their deliciously exotic ingredients, simply ask the folks behind the counter at anar for a suggestion. The staff is full of energy and are all well-versed in their offerings, even willing to share their personal favorites. Most of all, don’t forget to embrace the change of our dear SLU neighborhood and everything that it’s emerging landscape has to offer. Pass by the traditional offerings and save yourself a long flight with a visit to anar to experience global flavors curated for the Seattle taste in a small, yet inspiring, space tucked in the edge of downtown. anar is open to the public and is located at 2040 6th Avenue.
